I Could Use Suggestions!!!!

So, when I got married 9 years ago I was happy at 120 lbs. But I got pregnant right away and gained over 80 lbs with my first. FINALLY, 5 years later I had started losing the weight and was down to 162 lbs, then I found out I was pregnant with #2! I was better this time and only gained about 35 lbs. this pregnancy, weighing in at 196 lbs at my 6 week check up. That was almost 20 months ago. Right after having my second I started working out, but last fall I ended up have a messed up ankle and couldn't run, which is my work out of choice!
Fast forward 6 months, in February of this year my sister and I decided we'd run the Spanish Fork 1/2 marathon together, I was hoping I'd lose some weight while I trained. Well, it has been 8 months, I trained all summer long running 3 times a week and I have been between 180 lbs & 187 lbs consistently, I can not seem to get past that and it is really frustrating!!
A month ago I joined our local Rec Center and have been going to work out 6 days a week. I do the eliptical 5 days a week, because of a foot injury and swim laps 1 day a week. But I'm still in the 180's for my weight! I am now cleared to run and want would love suggestions on workouts to get the weight off! On the eliptical I usually do the weight loss work out which is 2-3 minute intervals at high impact and then low impact for 30-40 minutes.
I'd love for some tips or tricks on how to lose the weight while working out! So please comment here!!!

  1. Hi sweetie! I could NEVER do your workout. You are so strong! and fit! But I dunno why you don't seem to loose the weight you want to with such an intense workout. The only thing I can share with you that seems to work for me...is eat tons tons tons of fiber and lean protein. I mean every meal, eat things that are low fat, low sugar, high fiber, high protein. Something yummy i eat for lunch is: shredded cabbage (coleslaw mix bag w/out dressing), slivered almonds, cranberries, shredded chicken breast (canned for convenience), and rasberry vinegarette. This is so yummy and so good for you! it gives me energy without the carbs and calories. Carbs does a beating to my waiste line. Hope this helped.

  2. hey i don't know ya but hey might as well throw in my 2 cents :) my older sister recently just lost all of her baby weight from her second kid and looks awesome i asked her what the heck she did. she told me that losing weight is 80% what you eat and 20% work out. she did kinda what heather did. she's super careful to make sure she eats lots of proteins and cuts out most of her sugars and bad fats. she has one cheat day a week and lets herself slide a bit. lots of water. I love fruit and she told me that if i eat fruit i need to eat somethign with protein too so that it balances out my insolin levels. anyway i hope ya can start seeing results soon! i know theres nothing more frustrating then feeling like you are working so dang hard and then not seeing results faster! so my advice is watch what ya eat for the next few months and make sure to cut yourslef a little slack on your cheat day! GOOD LUCK!!!

  3. Katie, that diet your sister did sounds a lot like Body for Life! It's all about mini meals throughout the day and balancing out the amount of carbs and proteins. And one cheat day each week! I felt awesome while doing that diet and exercise program, so I'm trying to keep up the main philosophies now (but I'm not really cutting out the fat and sugar like you're supposed to). I like your salad, Heather. When I can't think of what I can eat that has protein, I mix up some protein powder with milk. Then I have some toast for my carbs, or a fruit. I really need to eat more veggies, though.
