ALOOOOHA!
What an awesome idea Heather! I know there are so many of us in the same boat and sharing ideas is such a great way to get out of my rut!
I'm still working on that baby weight and to eat healthy too! I have been consistently working out for the past month and haven't seen any incredible results yet.... **crossing my fingers it happens soon!**
Here's what I do....(I'd love any suggestions of how to increase the intensity or maybe something I'm missing to help me see results)
**I run 3-4 times a week pushing my baby in her stroller for 3 1/2 miles- 5 miles by myself on Saturdays
** I do a series of ab work outs from my good ol 'Tae Bo' Advanced Abs dvd (It turns out to be over 150-200 crunches in all sorts of styles)
** I do leg lifts for the inner and outter thighs
When I go to the gym: (once or twice a week)
30 minutes on elliptical- I usually do the fat burning which changes intensity
15 minutes on treadmill running @ a moderate speed
10 minutes of the good ol' Ab routine from Tae Bo
Here a couple suggestions that I just started this week.... Probably stuff I should have started a month ago! 1. I am trying to drink more water (I'm up to 5 glasses a day.... working up to my 8)... no soda or juice.... 2. SinceI'm the biggest snacker ever, I have to put healthy snacks within my reach or it's too easy to resort to the sugary stuff. I increased my fresh fruit intake and raw vegetables....
I would love any suggestions and love reading what works for everyone else! Anyone have thoughts on P90X? It's a huge fad happening in our town, but I don't know the facts about it! Has anyone tried it? Or know of anyone?
Good Luck!!

P90X is HUGE here in Utah right now as well. I have done the initial work out and it seriously seems like an awesome work out. I have 3-4 friends that have AWESOME results, but it seems like you have to have the motivation to do your work out at home! (that is where I struggle, since I work 40-50 hr weeks from home.) But if you can be motivated to work out at home I'd suggest it!
ReplyDeleteOne suggestion for healthy snacks is when you buy them, separate them into appropriate snack sizes, so you don't grab a whole back of carrots and eat them all (even though) they are good for you, you shouldn't go overboard...Try the Cross Country workout on the elliptical, my friend and I just started doing that one and we can tell a world of difference! Hope that helps a little! - Andrea
Hey thanks Andrea! I'll try the new cross country workout tomorrow! I'm apart of a Co-op (we get fruits and vegi's whole sale) and I have an entire afternoon of prepping them or they just sit in the fridge until I realize they need to be thrown out! Thanks for tips!
ReplyDeleteI own p90x and I've done 6 weeks of it 3 times now. I saw an amazing difference in the amount of muscle in my arms, but almost nothing anywhere else. Granted, I have large leg muscles already. Ha ha. I think for most people would probably get toned on this.
ReplyDeleteI really like that it's a hard work out, and it's very convenient. I didn't do the diet plan with it however. I never lost any weight at all. It is very hard to find an hour+ time to do a work out, however. I find myself dreading yogax thursdays. :) I think it's hard to keep going with it because it is a huge commitment.
I have a friend who was doing the P90x workouts pretty regularly and didn't lost weight either. I did a couple of work-outs with her, and they're hard! It seemed like too much effort with not enough results for me. I agree that the diet probably makes the difference. Good job with the water-drinking goal and having healthy snacks around to eat. With the holidays coming up, seems like I'm always reaching for a pumpkin cookie instead of a carrot stick! Thanks for the idea on prepping the healthy snacks ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteMike and Kahi just bought the P90X too. They haven't had the time to do the program all the way yet. But Kahi was telling me that she already feels so much stronger! But you should see the equipment they had to acquire in order to do the workouts. For them it worked...but I can't see it ever being something I could do. I'm with Andrea, getting out of the house seems much more appealing to me too. I remember when I used to run tons too (you are doing an amazing job running 3-5 miles 3 times or more a week!!!!!!), but until I started really doing weight circuit training too, I wasn't loosing the weight I wanted to. And my arms were finally getting rid of the under-arm flab. Just a suggestion. But seriously, Jenny you are doing one intense workout routine. I would be SUPER proud of myself if i were you! Keep it up. I bet you will start seeing amazing results here in the next little while.
