It's Been A YEAR!!

Well, I just thought I'd stop by this blog to see if anyone has posted and realized it has been a year since anyone posted! CRAZY! Hope you are all doing awesome! I've been doing the Insanity workouts for a little over a month, I haven't lost much, but I have lost a few pounds.....I've heard the results come in the second month, so I'm hoping that is true and hopefully I'll be more fit in the next 30 days! I've also started to change up workouts by signing up for events, like in September I have two triathlons and one half marathon that I'm training for! Since I've paid for them I won't lose motivation to keep working out! Let's try to post here more often to motivate each other!

Barefoot Running

Hi everyone!
I just had a question. Has anyone heard of this barefoot running kick? I guess it is supposedly supposed to help you with back and knee problems. Just wondering if anyone has tried it or know anyone that has.
Thanks!! Telsha

Jillian's 30 Day Shred

Well, 5 months ago I was down 30 lbs and loving my work outs. Then life got busy, I work 3 jobs, so the amount of time I had to work out was limited and mainly spent training for my marathon. I found that each week I made it to the gym less and less, but I was still running. June 12th came so quick and I ran a full marathon, that is 26.2 miles, now my run may look like a shuffle, but I did run the ENTIRE length. If you want the details on that go to my blog, www.lowaces.blogspot.com (it's private though, so email me at andreahlow@gmail.com if you want an invite!) Anyway, somehow over the course of training I put on 15 lbs! I was so depressed about it and I also injured my foot during the marathon, so since June 12th I've been depressed and unable to work out, which sadly has put me back to my old eating habits as well. Not that they are horrible, but they aren't that great either! Anyway, two weeks ago I got the ok from my dr to do light weight training, swimming and the stationary bike (which I hate!) Unfortunately, I haven't made it to the pool yet or the gym, besides to work. So, I got a gift card to Target in the mail yesterday and decided I was going to invest in Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred, I'm a little more motivated now that I've realized my brother's wedding is in 21 days, so hopefully I'm able to make some progress! I did the first work out tonight and I feel great! Unfortunately with my foot I can't do all the things in the work out, but I tried to modify it as best I could!
Hope you all are having success! Sorry for the long post. - Andrea

Variety!

I haven't been in the 'losing weight' category of my work outs since I am pregnant, but maintaining and remaining healthy has always been a goal through my first pregnancy.  One of the challenges of keeping my motivation is that I get bored because I do the same work out every single day/week.  Then I decide I can skip one day here and there and then the next thing you know a month has gone by.

This month BYU-H has a special on all their aerobic classes.  I talked to my OB and she told me to 'go for it'.  I need to keep active for my health and for my sanity, so I signed up for 15 classes this month.  I go 3 times a week to a different class.  BYU-H offers a wide variety and I love it!

So far I've done Zumba (my fav), Yoga (another fav), & Turbo Kickboxing on a medium scale.  There is also Tahitian, Boot Camp, Stability and Stretch, and a few more.  I love that I'm not spending much, but also staying committed to the classes.  I have a feeling I will keep up with Yoga and Zumba since each class is different with either various routines, instructors or poses that we do.  I love it!

So amongst all the craziness, I've been learning alot about things that I can do after.  One big hype, especially in Utah is the 'HCG' diet.  Has anyone heard about this or tried it?  I know diets aren't necessarily the way to go, but I saw someone do this diet for health reasons and it actually worked.  Any other opinions out there on this?

Personally keeping to a diet is not my favorite, but just thought I'd ask.

Another Update on ME!

I'm sure some of you don't care, because you don't know me, but I just had to share my news!!! I am down to 163 lbs! That is just 1 lb away from pre-pregnancy weight with my last pregnancy! I still have about 30-40 lbs to lose, but I'm so excited about the progress I've made and I think my real motivation kicked in after the first few times I viewed this blog!

So, THANK YOU HEATHER, for putting this blog together for all of us! I LOVE YOU & MISS YOU TONS!!!!

My EVERY DAY resolutions

1. DO some sort of physical activity. getting to the gym is getting harder and harder these days with Jake on the road 4-5 days in a row, two "babies" at home, and competing with Snow College students for the 1 treadmill and 1 eliptical and 3 bikes available here in boondog Ephraim.

2. Eat lots of veggies and fruits.

3. When I am craving sweets. Grab 1 tall glass of water first. Then if I am still craving it, eat a medium sized fruit. Still craving??? well...then eat the dang sweet already but get it over with and move on with my day! hahaha.

4. Play hard with the kids. Run around, get on my hands and knees, carry them on my back/shoulders, dance to the crazy music playing.....you get the idea.

5. Beautify my home in at least one way....clean, make a craft, tidy up a room...etc.

6. Say prayers with my kids and husband. tell them i love them everyday.

7. Thank my husband every day for all he does.

So Excited!!!

So, about two months ago I started watching The Biggest Loser. I had seen a few episodes here and there, but had never really gotten into the show. While working at home I've started watching lots of shows online to help pass the time and man, this one caught my attention BIG TIME!!! Then a few weeks later Heather mentioned something about the Biggest Loser books. Anyway, 3 weeks ago I joined the Biggest Loser Club online to see if it would help and I am now down 7 1/2 lbs!!! I haven't been able to get below 180 no matter what I'd tried and I'm finally at 175.7, no where near my end goal, but I just had to post how excited I am about that....And Biggest Loser's new season starts tonight!
Oh yeah, and I also got a road bike for Christmas, so once the snow is gone I'll add that into my workout routine. If anyone is interested I'll be doing a couple sprint triathlons, here in Utah and at least one half marathon. We could train together (meaning keep each other on track) and then run the races together! Let me know if you are interested and I'll tell you which ones I plan to do!
